§ 2.5-24. Prohibitions.

  • (a)

    False fire alarms are expressly prohibited in the City of Monroeville, Alabama, pursuant to the terms of this article.

    (b)

    No person shall install or operate an audible alarm system which emits a sound which is similar to that of an emergency siren or civil defense warning system.

    (c)

    Upon activation of an alarm system and a request for assistance by the fire department no fire alarm user or other person listed with the fire department, shall fail or refuse to respond to the premises where the alarm occurred after being requested to do so by the City of Monroeville Central Dispatch. Any failure to respond to the premises within fifteen (15) minutes after requested to do so shall be deemed a failure to respond.

    Failure to respond shall be in violation of this article and shall subject the individual(s) responsible for responding to a municipal fire in the amount of two hundred and fifty dollars ($250.00).

    (d)

    It shall be unlawful to install or maintain an alarm system that does not have an auxiliary power supply that activates in the event of a power failure or electrical outage.
