§ 2-4. Elections—Manner and day of holding; assuming office by successful candidates.

The regular or general municipal elections in the city shall be held on the second Tuesday in August, quadrenially; and when necessary as provided in the municipal election law, Title 37, Chapter 3A of the Alabama Code, a second or "run-off" election shall be held on the first Tuesday after the second Monday in September. Municipal officers elected at regular or general elections shall assume the duties of their respective offices on the first Monday in October following their election.
